Air Commodore Rajinth Jayawardena has assumed the role of Rector at the Metropolitan Campus, which is affiliated with Kotelawala Defence University, effective yesterday (01 October 2023). He took over the respective appointment from Major General Lal Gunasekara. His appointment marks a historic milestone as he becomes the inaugural officer from the Sri Lanka Air Force to hold this prestigious position, having received the approval of the Kotelawala Defence University's Board of Management.

The Metropolitan Campus is dedicated to providing a diverse range of services, encompassing academic programmes and skill development training initiatives.  Furthermore, the institution actively supports training programmes across various disciplines, including Financial Management, Commercial Skills & Governance, Humanities and Management, Information Technology & Digital Management, Health & Safety, and Science & Technology.
