COLOMBO AIR SYMPOSIUM 2023: GEOPOLITICAL COOPERATION, COMPLEXITIES AND COMPULSIONS CONCLUDE WITH INSIGHTFUL DISCUSSIONS AND CEREMONIOUS AWARDS

The second and final day's sessions of the 'Colombo Air Symposium - 2023' began this morning (10 October 2023) at the Eagles Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall, Attidiya, Ratmalana.
The Symposium which was held under the theme ‘Fostering shared air interests in the IOR: Geopolitical Cooperation, Complexities and Compulsions’ commenced for the second day with the arrival of the guest of Honour for the day, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal RS Wickremeratne.
The second day saw four speakers delivering presentations and fielding questions during the two sessions slated for the day. The first session of the day titled “Air Power Challenges and Opportunities” was moderated by Air Commodore MDAG Senevirathne. The second session of day two titled “Regional Coherence and Interdependence” was moderated by Prof. Maneesha Wanasinghe. The speakers of the first session of the day were Air Commodore SD Jayaweera and Air Vice Marshal KMK Keppetipola. The speakers of the second and final session of the Colombo Air Symposium were Miss Charini Patabendige and Air Commodore SPVK Senadheera.
In summary the Colombo Air Symposium 2023 saw 10 learned speakers presenting their researches under following sub themes.
Air Space Management
Sustenance under ‘VUCA’
Socioeconomic Compulsions
Air Power Challenges and Opportunities
Regional Coherence and Interdependence
The concluding remarks were made by Director General Training of SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera. On completion of all sessions, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa awarded certificates and mementoes to the moderators, speakers and peer reviewers of this year’s symposium.
The two day conference came to an end this afternoon following the Vote of Thanks which was delivered by the Chairman of the Symposium Committee, Air Commodore Dammika Dias and thus marked the successful completion of the “Colombo Air Symposium – 2023”.
