Final Journey of Squadron Leader Monath Perera

The funeral of Squadron Leader Monath Perera was held this evening, 5 March,2011 at the Samanala Grounds, Galle.

The cortege left the late pilot’s residence at Kitulampitiya Road and was handed over to the Sri Lanka Air Force near the Galle Public Library at 3pm. The mortal remains of Squadron Leader Monath Perera was cremated with full Air Force honours at the Samanala grounds in Galle.

Squadron Leader Monath Perera’s untimely demise occurred following Monday’s mid-air collision of 2 Kfir fighter jets. The 29 year old fighter pilot has served the Sri Lanka Air Force since 2004 and has participated in a number of operations in the North East theatre.
