SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE HOSTS A WORKSHOP ON ENHANCING FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS AND WELL-BEING

Under the guidance of the Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Deshapriya, a workshop on Psychoeducational and Supportive Sessions focusing on Family Relationships and Well-being was organized for all Officers and their spouses at the Officers' Mess yesterday (17 November 2023).
In response to the challenges faced by many Sri Lankan families due to economic uncertainty and the rapidly changing social context, the workshop aimed to address the difficulties in maintaining strong and healthy family bonds.
Mr. Prasanna Jayathilaka, a Consultant in Counselling, Lecturer and Trainer of Trainers, as well as the Managing Director of Global Minds Institute of Psychological Studies & Research (Pvt) Ltd and the President of the Professional Counsellors' Association, Sri Lanka, conducted the workshop successfully by providing valuable insights. It focused on enhancing the knowledge of officers and their families in strengthening family relationships and achieving a balance between the demands of work and family.
The importance of building strong family relationships was emphasized as an expression of love, embedded in togetherness, acceptance and an abundance of love. Distinguished participants included the Director General of Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Deshapriya Silva, President of the Mess Committee and Commanding Officer of SLAF Hospital Katunayake, Air Commodore Vasantha Padmaperuma. Additionally, Commanding Officers of lodger formations, married officers and their spouses actively participated in the programme.
