SLAF FIRE AND RESCUE DRILL DEMONSTRATES EXPERTISE IN URBAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The Fire and Rescue Service of the Sri Lanka Air Force conducted a Fire and Rescue drill at the Development Holding (Pvt) Ltd. building yesterday (20 December 2023) on Nawam Mawatha in Colombo 02. A total of 33 SLAF firefighters participated in the drill, under the supervision of SLAF Chief Fire Officer Group Captain WKASW Vithana and Commanding Officer Fire School & Fire Tender Maintenance Squadron SLAF Base Katunayake, Wing Commander CP Hettiarachchi.

The exercise was led by Squadron Leader BHMD Gunathilake. The SLAF firefighters showcased various rescue tactics, including rope rappelling and Turntable Ladder Rescue vehicle operations and demonstrated their firefighting response capabilities using Breathing Apparatus.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
