NATIONAL WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP - 2023

The 2023 National Weightlifting Championship took place at the National Sports Complex in Polonnaruwa from 27 December to 30 December 2023. In a remarkable display of skill and strength, the SLAF and SL Navy Women's Weightlifters clinched the joint championship title, while the SLAF Men's Weightlifters and SLAF Junior Women's Weightlifters secured the runner-up positions.
Corporal Gomas BDH emerged as the standout performer in the Women's category, earning the coveted title of best lifter. Additionally, Aircraftman 2 Under Training Dissanayaka HMSM made history by setting a new National record in the 96kg weight category and lifting an impressive 132 kg in the Snatch.
