The Change of Command at the Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW), SLAF Base Katunayake was conducted on 03 January 2024. The traditional Handing Over / Taking Over parade took place at the Wing premises where the outgoing Commanding Officer Group Captain AKKR Abeysinghe Bsc (Def Stu), psc, Z handed over the command to Group Captain MF Jansen USP, BSc (Def Stu), AMIE (SL), A Eng, Z.

Group Captain MF Jansen previously held the appointment of Director Aeronautical Engineering Maintenance of the Directorate of Aeronautical Engineering at AFHQ before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of AEW. The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain AKKR Abeysinghe, will take part in overseas training for 64th National Defence Course in India.
