The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksha declared open the newly constructed 04 story Officer’s General Service Quarters complex at SLAF Base Katunayake today morning (05th January 2024). 

 
The Opening ceremony commenced with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by the commander. The symbolic handing over of the keys to the recipients of the new houses was represented by the Commander’s handing over of the keys to Air Vice Marshal SDGM Silva, Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake. The Air Force Board of Management, Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Senior Officers were also present to mark the occasion.

The complex comprises 08 apartments in 4 stories where  each apartment consists of 03 bed rooms, 02 bathrooms, dining/living areas, Pantry/Kitchen, Servant’s bathroom and verandah. The complex has its own parking facility at the ground level. The construction was under taken by Civil Engineering Wing SLAF Base Katunayake under the close supervision of the Director Civil Engineering Air Vice Marshal Udula Wijesinghe and the Base Commander Air Vice Marshal SDGM Silva.
