The Defence Services Men’s Hockey Team emerged victorious with the triumph over the Mercantile Hockey Association team while Defence Services Women’s Hockey Team became the Joint Champions during the finals in the 60th Men’s and 25th Women’s Senior Nationals Hockey Championship – 2023 today (29 January 2024) at the SLTB Shalika Grounds, Park Road, Colombo 05.

Fourteen Men’s Hockey teams and six Women’s Hockey teams strived in the tournament and Defence Services Men’s Hockey Team earned the spot by defeating the Kandy Hockey Association team in a diligently contested semifinal. Ultimately, the Defence Services Men’s Hockey Team was honoured with the title by defeating the Mercantile Hockey Association team 08-01 during the Grand Finale.

The President Sri Lanka Handball Federation and Member of the National Olympic Committee, Mr. Upali Rajapaksha graced the Awarding Ceremony as the Chief Guest. The victorious Defence Services Men’s Hockey Team was comprised of seven SLAF, seven SL Army and four SL Navy exuberant Hockey players while the victorious Defence Services Women’s Hockey Team was comprised of eight SLAF, six SL Navy and four SL Army high-spirited Hockey Players.
