SLAF STATION PALAVI LAUNCHES VEHICLE WASHING WASTEWATER RECYCLING PROJECT
9:09pm on Tuesday 13th February 2024
The recycling of vehicle washing wastewater project at SLAF Station Palavi was declared open by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain PS Alexander, yesterday (12 February 2024) as part of the Station's Addition & Improvement Programme.
This project aims to purify the wastewater produced during vehicle washing. The wastewater will pass through three pits designed to separate oil from water, undergo filtration using an activated carbon filter and finally be stored in overhead tanks. The filtered water can then be reused for washing vehicles, making the process more environmentally friendly.
This initiative may benefit the station in two ways: first, by preserving water resources and second, by minimizing vehicle corrosion caused by contact with salt-based water.
Additionally, the second phase of the project, which involves constructing a shelter, will proceed as provisions become available.
