NO. 01 ITW AT SLAF BASE RATMALANA CELEBRATES 11TH ANNIVERSARY

The No. 01 Information Technology Wing (ITW) at SLAF Base Ratmalana celebrated  11th anniversary yesterday (11 March 2024). The celebration commenced with a traditional working parade, reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain API Sampath Kumara.

In recognition of a decade of outstanding service, No. 01 ITW undertook a series of community service initiatives. Personnel from the Wing conducted a beach clean-up at the scenic Mount Lavinia beach to preserve the coastal environment.

Furthermore, a blood donation campaign was conducted in collaboration with the Kotelawala Defence University Hospital, encouraging individuals to engage in regular donations to address societal needs. Additionally, a Bodhi Pooja event was held at the historical Mallikaramaya temple Ratmalana, attended by personnel from the IT Wing. Moreover, to boost camaraderie and team spirit among servicemen, a cricket tournament was organized by the Wing personnel.

The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including the Director Information Technology, Air Commodore A Hettiachchi, Director Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Group Captain KRP Ekanayake and the Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore AV Jayasekara.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
