SLAF SEVA VANITHA UNIT HOSTS SACRED 'KAPRUK POOJA' CEREMONY IN CELEBRATION OF 73RD ANNIVERSARY

The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit conducted a “Kapruk Pooja” invoking blessings for the SLAF in parallel with the celebration of its 73rd Anniversary. This religious event was held yesterday evening (14 March 2024) at the sacred Ruwanweliseya under the auspices of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa. The event was hosted by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit with the assistance of the Directorate of Welfare and SLAF Base Anuradhapura.
Meanwhile, another procession of religious ceremonies took place along with a 'Gilanpasa Pooja' which was also held at the Ruwanweliseya on the same evening.
The colorful procession, made up of traditional dancers and flower offerings for the “Kapruk Pooja,” commenced from the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises and proceeded to the Ruwanweliseya. The Kapruk Pooja was followed by a Dharma Sermon delivered by the deputy head of the Maha Vihara Piriven, Venerable Kudagalawewa Ghanawimala Thero.
The event was attended by the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief Staff, Member of the Air Force Board of Management along with their spouses, a cross-section of Senior Officers, Other Ranks, and Civilian Staff representing the entire Air Force.
