In response to a solicitation put forth by the Governor of the Western Province, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke and in alignment with the objective of educational support, the SLAF has embarked upon a significant initiative, the construction of a playground at Parakkramabahu Vidyayalaya, Narahenpita. This endeavour is made to enrich the sports infrastructure of the school, thereby facilitating holistic development and instilling a culture of sportsmanship among its student body.

Led by the technically skilled Ground Construction and Maintenance personnel of the SLAF's Sports Division, the construction of the playground has been meticulously executed. Recognizing the vital role of sports in moulding young minds and promoting physical well-being, the SLAF has dedicated human resources to ensure the seamless realization of this endeavour, with the necessary financial support extended by the Western Provincial Council.

The inauguration ceremony was convened today (15 March 2024) to hand over the newly constructed playground. The event was graced by the presence of the Governor of the Western Province, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. Additionally, Director Sports of SLAF, Samantha Weerasekara, Principal of the school, teachers and students attended the event.
