In celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force under the theme "Wings of Friendship," the SLAF has undertaken an initiative to refurbish and enhance the infrastructure of 73 selected schools across the Northern and Eastern Provinces. As part of this endeavour, SLAF Station Batticaloa has contributed to the renovation of seven underprivileged schools in the region. The Ceremonial Handing over and Opening Ceremony of BT/BW/Kannankudah Maha Vidyalaya in Batticaloa took place on 02 April 2024.

The event commenced with the unveiling of renovated and colour washed buildings and included a tree planting program. The Commanding Officer, Group Captain Sarath Bandara, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, alongside officers and other rankers from SLAF Station Batticaloa. Also in attendance were the Principal, teaching staff and students from Kannankudah Maha Vidyalaya Batticaloa.
