SRI AVIATION CELEBRATES SINHALA AND TAMIL NEW YEAR IN MINUSCA

The ‘Aluth Avurudu Ulela’ was held to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year at the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit in MINUSCA on 13 April 2024 in Bria, Central African Republic. The event was filled with joy and happiness and the occasion brought together Sri Lankan peacekeepers in a spirit of cultural unity and camaraderie amidst their peacekeeping duties within the mission.
The event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Sector Commander of East (MINUSCA) Colonel Mohomad Limam, along with the other members and the staff of the mission. The Chief Guest was welcomed by the Contingent Commander of the 9th Aviation Unit, Group Captain Asanka Ratnayake.
The event was marked by an array of colorful rituals and festivities, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. Traditional customs such as the lighting of the hearth, New Year games, preparing sweet meats and awarding gifts were observed with great enthusiasm.
