SLAF STATION MULLAITIVU REFURBISHES VATTAPPALAI MAHA VIDYALAYA

On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force, commemorated under the theme "Wings of Friendship," an ambitious project has been launched. This initiative aims to revitalize and upgrade the infrastructure of 73 carefully selected schools located across the Northern and Eastern Provinces. In line with this endeavour, SLAF Station Mullaitivu has made essential contributions to the renovation efforts, impacting fourteen (14) deserving schools within the region. The ceremonial handover and opening ceremony of Vattappalai Maha Vidyalaya in Vattappalai marked a significant milestone today (30 April 2024) in this ongoing endeavour.

The event commenced with the opening of the new drinking water supply. The renovated and newly colour-washed lavatory complex and playground equipment were handed over by the chief guest. The Acting Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Upul Dharmasiri, graced the ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by officers and other ranks from SLAF Station Mullaitivu. As a part of this event, a sports equipment donation programme was conducted in the school Main Hall building. The event was attended by the school Principal, dedicated teaching staff and students from Vattappalai Maha Vidyalaya.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
