The Change of Command at Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Wing in SLAF Base Katunayake took place yesterday (20 May 2024). The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain KMP Hewapathirana Eng, MBA, Pg Dip (Mkt Mgt), GCGI (SL), MIIE (SL), I Eng, MIM (SL) handed over duties to Wing Commander AN Hathurusinghe USP, B.Tech (Eng), AMIE(SL), AMIIE(SL), ptsc. Group Captain KMP Hewapathirana will subsequently assume the duties of Acting Director Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Directorate of Construction Engineering.

During the parade, the outgoing Commanding Officer addressed the personnel and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the personnel for their support during his tenure. The new Commanding Officer, Wing Commander AN Hathurusinghe, successfully completed the Technical Staff Officer Course at Defence Service Technical Staff College in Pune, India, before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Wing.
