COMMANDER DECLARED OPEN THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED OFFICE COMPLEX AND LECTURE HALL AT NO 49 CBRNE WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa declared open the newly constructed Office Complex and Lecture Hall building for No 49 CBRNE Wing SLAF Base Katunayake today (29 May 2024).
The Commanding Officer Group Captain Nilendra Perera welcomed the Commander, Air Force Board of Management and ushered to unveil of the opening plaque. The No. 49 Chemical/Biological/Nuclear/explosive (CBRNE) Wing was established on 27 November 2019 and their primary objective is to prepare for the event of a sudden chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive attack/incident and to safely transport patients by air or land in the shortest possible time while providing immediate treatment. Further, the CBRNE first responders of No. 49 CBRNE Wing have showcased their exceptional skills and capabilities in CBRNE emergency response, decontamination operation and safe evacuation procedures during the COVID 19 pandemic. Currently, they have been deployed in Bandaranaike International Airport.
The Commander highly appreciated the tireless effort of the CBRNE First Responders for their dedication and contribution towards the development of the Wing. This newly added infrastructure was much felt requirement to enhance their operational, administration and training prowess.
