FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMONY OF THE FULLY-FLEDGED PAVILION AT THE SRI LANKA AIR FORCE SOCCER AND HOCKEY GROUND COMPLEX

The founding stone was laid for the pavilion of the hockey and soccer grounds complex at Sri Lanka Air Force Trade Training school, Ekala today (29 May 2024). The event was graced by Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest who laid the founding stone along with the Director General Welfare as the Chairman Sri Lanka Air Force Soccer Air Vice Marshal Suresh Fernando, Director General Construction Engineering Air Vice Marshal Chandana Geethapriya and the Chairman Sri Lanka Air Force Hockey Air Commodore Shehan Wijenayake.
The Commander of the Air Force addressed the gathering and explained the purpose of building the pavilion which is a pressing need of the time. Even though the Hockey and Soccer Ground Complex was built up in June 2018, the complex has existed with the need of a pavilion. It is expected to complete the new construction in three stages; by adding further a washroom complex and Players’ Dressing Rooms in future.
Further, this project has been initiated and launched to facilitate the future of Sri Lanka Air Force Sports by the directorate of sports.
The event was attended by the Director Sports Air Commodore Samantha Weerasekara, the Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Air Force Trade Training School (TTS), Ekala Air Commodore Uditha Piyasena, Secretary Air Force Sports Council Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, Officers and Airmen representing TTS Ekala.
