SLAF STATION WEERAWILA CELEBRATES 46TH ANNIVERSARY

SLAF Station Weerawila proudly celebrated its 46th year on 01 June 2024. The Station was initially established on 01 June 1978 under the leadership of Flying Officer Rubee De Alwis as the first Commanding Officer. At present, the Station is being commanded by its 36th Commanding Officer, Group Captain SP Jayasinghe.
In view of celebrating its anniversary, SLAF Station Weerawila has conducted ‘Shramadana’ at Abhinawarama Temple and 46 Buddhist monks embarked on ‘Pindapathaya’ in the Weerawila area on 31 May 2024 followed by an almsgiving held at the Airmen’s Mess.
The customary Working Parade was held on 01 June 2024 at the Station Parade Square and was reviewed by the Commanding Officer. In addition to the parade, a tree-planting event, multi religious observances and sports events were conducted with the participation of all service personnel and civilian staff. The event was concluded with an all ranks lunch.
