SLAF PERFORMS IN CULINARY ART AND FOOD EXPO 2024

The Culinary Art & Food Expo 2024, organized by the Chef's Guild of Sri Lanka which is the esteemed culinary professional’s association leads to World Association of Chefs Societies, was held from the 7th to 09th of June 2024 at the BMICH. This annual event stands as Sri Lanka's most prominent platform for Food and Hospitality to promote Sri Lankan cuisines in globally, attracting approximately 1000 chefs who compete under 17 categories.
Under the supervision of the Director General Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Deepal Munasinghe, SLAF Team led by Chief Instructor Hospitality Management School Sigiriya, Wing Commander NC Senanayake and his Instructors participated with 41 service personnel including trainees of Hospitality Management School. Grounds Stewards and Caterers of SLAF competed with leading Five Star Hotel chains like Shangri-la, Cinnamon Grand, Heritance hotels and more. The participation of the SLAF Caterers and Food and Beverage Team in this competitive event demonstrates the individual’s commitment to upholding the highest standards in the culinary arts.
SLAF team participated for events including ‘innovative main Dishes (Meat and Poultry), Innovative Seafood, Sri Lankan Breakfast and set Dinner, Pasta challenge, Dress the Cake, Tea/Coconut/Spices infused creative dessert, Apprentice team challenge (Dessert- Main Course) Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Chocolate carving, Coconut Mocktail Competition, Arrack/ Gin Cocktail Competition, Coconut show piece. The SLAF team's exceptional performance led to an impressive total of 31 medals won, including two gold, eight silver and 21 bronze medals.
The award ceremony was held yesterday (10 June 2024) and Chef Gerard Mendis, Chairman Chef Guild of Sri Lanka, Chef Thomas A Gugler President – World Chef Association of Chef Societies, Chef Madawa Weerabaddana, Director Training & Skill Development, Chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe- President Chef Guild Of Sri Lanka and other foreign chefs and sponsors graced the occasion.
