The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, conducted the Annual Commander's Inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya today (12 June 2024).

The Commander reviewed the parade, which featured the Air Force Standards and the parade was commanded by the Base Commander SLAF Base Vavuniya, Air Commodore Amitha Jayamaha. Moreover, the Certificates of Commendation were awarded to the following service personnel in recognition of their invaluable contributions to SLAF Base Vavuniya.

During the course of inspection, the Commander visited the Base Headquaters, No. 111 UAV Squadron, No. 2 Air Defence Radar Squadron, No. 23 Regiment Wing, No. 2 Motor Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing, Airmen’s Social Club and Amenity Complex consisting of a Cafeteria, Welfare Shop, Juice bar, Babar Saloon and Tailor Shop.

The Commander also joined the customary all-ranks lunch at the Airmen mess with a cross-section of officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff. Concluding the Annual Commander's Inspection, the commander addressed all ranks, including civilian personnel and commended their hard work to uplift the standards of the base and emphasized the need to contribute their best to the Air Force.
