COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE APPOINTED AS NEW PRESIDENT OF KDU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The 6th Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was held today (13 June 2024), marking the appointment of Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, the Commander of the Air Force, as the new President of the association. The event, held with grandeur , brought together distinguished alumni, dignitaries and current members to celebrate the university's legacy and its continued contributions to defence education.

The formal proceedings of the Annual General Meeting were conducted with the seating of key association leaders, including Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Major General Renuka Rowel (Retd), Commodore Srimal De Silva and Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe.

A significant highlight of the evening was the ceremonial awarding of newly launched membership cards to the members, symbolizing their enduring connection and commitment to the KDU Alumni Association. This ceremony was led by Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and Major General Renuka Rowel (Retd), adding a touch of tradition and honour to the event.

The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, KDU alumni members, including senior officers and junior officers in tri-forces, retired KDU alumni members and day scholars.
