FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR WELFARE AMENITIES COMPLEX AT DHQC SRI JAYEWARDENEPURA

A significant milestone was reached today (20 June 2024) as the foundation stone for the Welfare Amenities Complex at the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC), Sri Jayewardenepura, was laid under the auspices of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Guneratne (Retd.). The event was graced by the presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne, members of the Air Force Board of Management, the Director of Project Management Unit, Air Vice Marshal Rohan Pathirage, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, Air Commodore Ruwan Chandima, marking a pivotal step towards enhancing the quality of life for military personnel.

The construction area, located at Thalangama South, spans a land area of 40 perches. The construction is expected to be completed within six months.

This project will fulfil the essential and recreational needs of the tri-service personnel, contributing significantly to their health and work-life balance. The welfare shop, cafeteria and recreational area will support the personnel's routine needs and provide a space for relaxation and rejuvenation, crucial for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
