AIR FIELD CONSTRUCTION WING CELEBRATES 15TH ANNIVERSARY

The Air Field Construction Wing celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday (20 June 2024) which was commenced with the customary working parade reviewed by the Commanding Officer of the Air Field Construction Wing, Wing Commander KADDT Kariyapperuma. Moreover, the sports activities were also organized with the participation of all members of the Wing.
In parallel to the celebration, a Blood Donation Campaign was held on 12 June 2024, with more than 100 personnel donating blood to the Apeksha Hospital Maharagama. Following this, Air Field Construction Wing tradesmen participated in a shramadhana campaign to renovate the roof at "Yashodhara Lama Niwasaya," which provides shelter to homeless children.
The Air Field Construction Wing is established for the purpose of centrally coordinating and maintaining all operational platforms (runways) to facilitate the decentralized operation of multifaceted SLAF aircraft and the operational surfaces for optimal operational efficiency at all times, as planned by Air Force Headquarters. Presently, this Wing consists of Civil Engineering branch officers and more than 300 airmen who have trained in various disciplines in the civil engineering field.
