NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL GENERAL ENGINEERING OF THE SRI LANKA AIR FORCE APPOINTED

Air Vice Marshal Indika Wickramasinghe was appointed as the Director General General Engineering in the Sri Lanka Air Force, effective from 28 July 2024. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, officially handed over the letter of appointment to Air Vice Marshal Indika Wickramasinghe at the Air Force Headquarters today (30 July 2024) and conveyed his best wishes to the newly appointed Director General General Engineering.
Air Vice Marshal Indika Wickramasinghe is a product of Dharmaraja College Kandy and joined Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet of the 11th Intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy (KDA) in 1993. He was commissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer in the Aeronautical and General Engineering Branch of the Sri Lanka Air Force on 17 October 1996.
During his service tenure, he was entrusted with many key engineering appointments in the Air Force, such as Officer Commanding Maintenance in No 08 and 02 Transport Squadrons, Staff Officer appointments in the Directorate of Aeronautical Engineering AFHQ, Examination Manager in Helitours Technical Training Centre, Commanding Officer appointments in No 01 Motor Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing, General Engineering Wing, Aircraft Overhaul Wing and Aeronautical Engineering before being appointed as the Director General General Engineering.
His academic journey started with the earning of a BSc (Def) Aeronautical Engineering degree from KDA and pursued various milestones, such as a Post Graduate Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering from Air Force Technical College, India, in 2002 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Quality Management from SLSI in 2011. He graduated from Junior Command and Staff College in 2004 and Defence Services Command and Staff College, Batalanda, in 2012. He earned an MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies from KDU in 2013 and an MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Colombo in the year 2018.
Air Vice Marshal Indika Wickramasinghe is a graduate of the National Defence College, Sri Lanka. Also, he is an Associate Member of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka, a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Chartered Engineer in Engineering Council UK. For his distinguished and exemplary service to the nation, he has been awarded with “Uththama Seva Padakkama”.
