The SLAF Judo Team extended their dominance, claiming the championship title once again at the 3rd Canadian Friendship Challenge Trophy Judo Championship 2024, held at the Indoor Stadium, Ministry of Sports, on 10 and 11 August 2024. The tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Judo Association and sponsored by former national champion Chaminda Weerasinghe. The championship was conducted in seven (07) weight categories. More than 140 players from twenty (20) independent sports clubs participated in the event.

The High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, His Excellency Eric Walsh, graced the occasion as the chief guest, adding further significance to the event. The event was also attended by the SLAF Judo Chairman, Air Vice Marshal Demian Weerasinghe and other distinguished guests.

The SLAF Judo teams, both men's and women's, emerged victorious for the third consecutive time. Their dominance was evident as they clinched an impressive haul of nine gold, 10 silver and three bronze medals, including a gold medal for the mixed team event.
