The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa conducted the Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Katukurunda today (29 August 2024). The Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain MP Abeywickrema received the Commander on his arrival.

During the inspection, the Commander toured all areas of the Station and reviewed various projects undertaken by AR&DW, including the indigenous surveillance drone.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander awarded Certificates of Commendation to the following personnel in recognition of their exceptional contributions to both the Station and the Air Force as a whole.

The Commander addressed all personnel at the Station, including civilians, and emphasized that the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Katukurunda serves as the main aeronautical research entity within the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Finally, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their hard work in preparing the Station to the standard expected at a Commander’s Inspection.
