SLAF SIGNS THE MEMORANDUM UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH SRI LANKA TOURISM AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) at the SLTDA Head Office today (02 September 2024). The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and the Chairman of and Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority, Mr. Priyantha Fernando.

The objective of this agreement is to develop and improve the facilities at the “Shanthipura Viewpoint” in Nuwara Eliya, recognized as the highest village in Sri Lanka with the target of providing an exceptional tourism experience by upgrading service amenities for both local and international visitors. Through these improvements, aim to provide an unparalleled level of comfort and enjoyment for all who visit this scenic location.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) will provide funding for materials and overhead costs, while the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will contribute skilled labor with machineries. The SLAF will oversee all aspects of project management and construction, with an expected completion timeline of four months. The project will be managed and supervised by Air Vice Marshal Chandana Geethappriya, the Director General of Constructions Engineering of the SLAF and progress of the project will be monitored by the Commanding Officer SLAF Station Piduruthalagala, Group Captain Nalin Wewakumbura.

The event was attended by several distinguished individuals, including the Director General of Constructions Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Chandana Geethappriya , Director General, Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority, Mr. BHR Sariffo Deen. Additionally, officers and officials from the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority were also present at the ceremony.
