SPECIAL AIRBORNE FORCE CONCLUDES NO. 01 SCOUT COURSE ON URBAN COMBAT OPERATIONS

The Special Airborne Force successfully conducted the No. 01 Special Combat Operations in Urban Terrain (SCOUT) course for its troops. The training commenced on 25 June 2024 and concluded on 02 September 2024 at the SLAF Regimental Training Centre, Ampara. The course was carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Commanding Officer of the Special Airborne Force Wing, Wing Commander Niroshan Ritigala, and under the direction of the Director General of Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Chaminda Wickramarathne.

The primary objective of the training was to qualify SABF personnel in urban combat operations with a focus on integrating air power for future urban combat scenarios. During the course, trainees learnt advanced urban combat techniques, including heli-rappelling and fighting in various urban environments and situations.

A total of 16 trainees were selected for the course, which was conducted over a period of 50 working days at the SLAF Regimental Training Centre in Ampara.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Commanding Officer SLAF Regimental Training Centre, Ampara, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa as the chief guest.
