Master Warrant Officer G Wickremasekara took over duties as the Command Master Warrant Officer (CMWO) of the Sri Lanka Air Force under the auspices of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa today (06 September 2024) at Air Force Headquarters. The Commander handed over the appointment letter to Master Warrant Officer G Wickremasekara this morning at the Commander’s Office.

The Outgoing Command Master Warrant Officer of the SLAF, Master Warrant Officer WMSR Jayasinghe handed over his appointment of Command Master Warrant Officer to Master Warrant Officer Wickremasekara. The Commander appreciated the valuable and dedicated service of Master Warrant Officer Jayasinghe during his career in the Air Force and as the Command Master Warrant Officer of the SLAF as well. Master Warrant Officer Jayasinghe was presented with a letter of appreciation and a memento by the Commander as a token of appreciation.  

Master Warrant Officer Wickremasekara joined the Sir Lanka Air Force on the 14 July 2003 as a Logistics Assistant Tradesman. Before being appointed as the Command Master Warrant Officer he served in the capacity of Warrant Officer In charged at the Supply and Maintenance Depot, SLAF Base Katunayake.

The Command Master Warrant Officer appointment was established in July 2017. The Command Master Warrant Officer is the senior-most Other Ranker in the Air Force and reports directly to the Commander of the Air Force. He is vested with the overall responsibility for all aspects related to the general administration and welfare of other rankers and non-executive civilian employees of the SLAF.
