COMMANDER’S INSPECTION OF SLAF STATION PALAVI

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa conducted the Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Palavi today (13 September 2024). Upon his arrival, the Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain PS Alexander, formally welcomed the Commander.

During the guard of honor, the Commander awarded Certificates of Commendation to the following personnel in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the Station and the Air Force.

Following the ceremony, the Commander conducted a thorough tour of the Station, reviewing various new projects, including the newly constructed Airmen/Airwomen Transit Block and VIP Room. The Commander officially declared open the Airmen/Airwomen Transit Block.

Further, the Commander visited and inspected the Surface Treatment Plant (STP), which has been established to support the electroplating processes for overhauling aircraft components at the Aircraft Overhaul Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake. The STP features six production lines and includes eighteen different electroplating methods. A Chinese crew, currently providing training for SLAF personnel at the plant, were also engaged in a discussion with the Commander.

In conclusion, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their diligent efforts in preparing the Station to meet the high standards expected at a Commander’s Inspection. He addressed all personnel, including civilian staff, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
