The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, in parallel to the World Children’s Day celebrations 2024 which fall on 1st October 2024, organized “Guwan Randaru Siththam Art Competition” for the children of Air Force service personnel. A total of 319 children participated in this competition and winners were chosen from each age group by influential artists in modern Sri Lankan society, Mr. Sudath Abeysekara and Mrs. Achala Gunawardhana.      
                 
As per a novel concept of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, a workshop aiming to inculcate knowledge and techniques of painting was organized on 18th September 2024 for the winning 39 children at Air Force Museum premises. Renowned artists Mr. Sudath Abeysekara and Mrs. Achala Gunawardhana conducted this practical workshop, which was a fruitful session for both parents and kids.

Simultaneously, the certificate awarding ceremony of the ‘Guwan Randaru Siththam’ Art Competition was held today (20 September 2024) at Air Force Headquarters premises with the honoured participation of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa. Talents of the winners of each age category were appraised by awarding cash prizes and certificates for these children.

The event was attended by the Air Force Board of Management and their spouses, special guests Mr. Sudath Abeysekara and Mrs. Achala Gunawardhana, parents of winning children and a cross section of officers and other rankers of Station Sri Jayawardenepura.
