First Century For Sri Lankan Women’s Cricket

Sri Lanka Air Force cricketer, Chamari Atapattu created cricketing history by becoming the first ever woman cricketer to score a century for Sri Lanka.
The run-a-ball ton was scored against Ireland during the Quadrangular Tournament 2011 where Pakistan and Netherlands also participated. The century came with 17 boundaries and one six, hit all around the Colts Cricket grounds. Air woman Chamari Atapattu overtook the previous highest score of 88 runs which was made in 2003 against the West Indies.
The left handed Chamari Atapattu joined the SLAF in 2010 and opens the batting for the SLAF as well as for the Sri Lankan team. Being a product of Ibbagamuwa Central College, she played for the Kurunegala Cricket Club before being contracted by the Colts Cricket Club.
She is a permanent player in the national team and has been on several foreign tours including the tour of South Africa and England for the T-20 World Cup Tournaments.
