SLAF TRIUMPHS AT LAYTON CUP BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) organized the Men's and Women's 'Layton Cup Boxing Championship – 2024,' held from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Royal MAS Boxing Arena, Colombo 07. For the first time in the history of Sri Lankan boxing, the semifinals and finals of a tournament were conducted in an open boxing arena at Beach Park, Negombo, on 4 and 5 October 2024.
The SLAF Men's and Women's Boxing teams participated in this prestigious tournament, competing against 28 prominent boxing teams from across the country, including teams from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, the Police and several renowned boxing clubs. Approximately 150 boxers competed in the championship.
The SLAF boxers achieved notable success, winning seven Gold, three Silver and six Bronze medals. Additionally, Leading Aircraftwoman Perera K.K.I.T. was awarded the title of ‘Most Scientific Best Boxer' in the women's category at the championship. Meanwhile SLAF Women's team secured the Overall Championship.
