FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR NEW FOUR-STOREY FACILITY AT GUWANPURA

The foundation stone laying ceremony for a new four-storey building at Guwanpura was held today (14 October 2014) under the auspicious of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne, Director General of Construction Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Chandana Geethapriya, President of the Air Force Ex-Servicemen Association (AFESA), Air Vice Marshal Elmo Perera, Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura, Air Commodore Ruwan Chandima, senior officers and airmen.
The planned four-storey building will accommodate a range of pivotal facilities. The ground floor will allocate as changing rooms for the swimming pool, the first floor will house a fully equipped gymnasium and physiotherapy unit, the second floor will provide office space for the SLAF Ex-Servicemen Association (AFESA) and the Retired Air Force Officers Association (RAFOA), while the top floor will be dedicated to the Sports Medicine Unit. The construction of the building is jointly funded by AFESA and RAFOA, with the project expected to be completed within four months.
