SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY CELEBRATES PASSING-OUT PARADE FOR 245 NEW AIRMEN AND AIRWOMEN

The passing-out parade of No. 173 Regular Airmen, No. 43 Regular Airwomen, No. 135 Volunteer Airmen and No. 17 Volunteer Airwomen Recruit Courses took place today (18 October 2024), at SLAF Academy China Bay.
The occasion was graced by Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Suresh Fernando. The Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, acting Commandant, Group Captain Asela Kuruwita, Base Commanders, Commanding Officers, senior officers, including sister services and the Sri Lanka Police, were present. Notably, the parents of the newly passed out airmen and airwomen added to the dignified atmosphere of the event. The parade was commanded by Group Captain Nirosha Senadheera, the Commanding Officer Ground Training Wing SLAF Academy China Bay.
A total of 245 young Airmen and Airwomen proudly completed their training at the SLAF Academy China Bay on this significant day. The Chief Guest delivered an inspirational address during the parade, extending heartfelt congratulations on the successful completion of Basic Ground Combat Training. He emphasized that the young Airmen and Airwomen are now integral parts of the Air Force, stressing the vital responsibility of maintaining the highest standards of integrity and discipline.
