The 13th Defence Services Games Handball Championship finals took place today (18 October 2024) at the Indoor Stadium of the Army Cantonment in Panagoda.

After a toe to toe match against the SL Army, the SLAF Women’s Handball team emerged victorious, displaying exceptional strategy and coordination throughout the game. This marks the first gold medal victory for the Sri Lanka Air Force in the 13th Defence Services Games. Meanwhile, the Men's Championship title was claimed by the SL Navy.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Director General of Electronics and Computer Engineering of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Damian Weerasinghe, who served as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were the Chairman of SLAF Handball, Air Vice Marshal Rajinth Jayewardena, the Director of Sports of the SLAF, Air Commodore Samantha Weerasekara, the President of the Sri Lanka Handball Federation and senior officers from the Sri Lanka Army and Navy.
