SLAF Base Vavuniya celebrated the 46th anniversary on 27 October 2024 with a series of Community Service Projects, inclusive of recreational activities and religious activities, under the guidance of the Base Commander, Air Commodore Nipuna Thanippuliarachchi together with all officers, other ranks and civil staff.

The day’s proceedings began with the customary working parade, which was reviewed by the Base Commander.

Subsequently, in celebration of the anniversary, a tree planting campaign was held within the Base premises. The day’s festivities were further enriched with a friendly cricket tournament involving all service personnel and civil staff at the Base sports ground, followed by an all-ranks lunch.

Aligned with the anniversary spirit, a two-day Shramadana program was conducted at the Madukanda Temple. Additionally, a blood donation programme was held yesterday (29 October 2024) at the Base Hospital premises in support of the Blood Bank of Vavuniya District General Hospital, as they are in a shortage of blood.

Concluding the celebrations, an almsgiving ceremony will be held for Maha Sangha on 05 November 2024, to evoke blessings for the Base and its personnel.
