
SLAF STATION KATUKURUNDA CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

SLAF Station Katukurunda marked its 40th anniversary on 16 November 2024, with the celebratory events taking place yesterday (19 November 2024). The occasion was celebrated with a series of community service projects and recreational activities, organized under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain MP Abeywickrama, in collaboration with all officers, other rankers and civil staff.
As part of the celebration, a one-day Shramadana programme was conducted at the Madukanda Temple, Amarasekara Primary School in Ethagama, and the Katukurunda Railway Station. In addition, a donation of water bottles was made to the Blind Association in Kalutara.
On 19 November 2024, the day’s proceedings commenced with the customary working parade, reviewed by the Commanding Officer. During the parade, Certificates of Merit were presented to the following airmen in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the organization

Sergeant Sunil MJP
Corporal Weenakkody MSC
Corporal Samantha MK
A tree-planting campaign was subsequently held within the station premises to celebrate the milestone. The celebrations concluded with friendly cricket and netball tournaments, which saw enthusiastic participation from service personnel and civil staff at the station’s sports ground.
