In order to prepare expecting mothers for the period of pregnancy and afterward care of newborn following delivery, SLAF Hospital Kat has organized a session of antenatal teachings for expecting mothers serving in the Air Force. All most all the pregnant airwomen of SLAF Base Katunayake took part in the programme together with few other pregnant spouses of airmen.

This initiative was conducted under the directives of Commanding Officer, SLAF Hospital Katunayake and successfully concluded with multiple positive feedbacks from the participants. The programme was conducted yesterday (21 November 2024).

The programme initiated with a counseling session of Mindfulness in pregnancy followed by a relaxation session by Clinical psychologist of SLAF Hospital Katunayake, Wing Commander AHS Premarathne. A detailed session addressing nutritional needs in pregnancy was conducted by the Nutritionist, Squadron Leader TMS Thilakerathne. The programme was concluded with a session of knowledge sharing on pregnancy and its common complications, Clarification of doubts and debunks myths regarding pregnancy by the Medical Officer SLAF Hospital Katunayake, JAAS Wijesinghe.

A Nutritious flavorful snack consist of fresh fruits was served and valuable gift packs consists of essential baby products also provided to all the participants in the programme.
