The SLAF Base Hingurakgoda celebrated its 46th Anniversary yesterday (23 November 2024). A series of events, including community service projects and recreational activities were organized under the guidance of the Base Commander SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore Dinesh  Jayaweera together with all officers, other ranks and the civilian staff.

The day’s celebrations commenced with the customary working parade followed by multi religious ceremony and Cricket Tournament was held at the Base playground. Furthermore, the celebration concluded with an all-ranks lunch which was participated by both service and civilian personnel of the Base.

In line with the anniversary, several community service projects were undertaken, such as a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Teaching Hospital Polonnaruwa, a fire-handling awareness program conducted for the Youth Wealth Committee in Hingurakgoda, a Shramadana campaign at the Dharmapala Bosath Balika Child Development Centre in Hingurakgoda and a tree-planting initiative to promote environmental conservation.
