NO 9 ATTACK HELICOPTER SQUADRON CELEBRATES 29TH ANNIVERSARY

The No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Hingurakgoda celebrated its 29th anniversary yesterday (24 November 2024). Customarily, celebrations consist of a working parade held at the squadron premises reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain PS Liyanarachchi, followed by an address to the officers and other rankers of the Squadron. The Commanding Officer, during his speech, expressed the heartfelt gratitude to all the fallen heroes, disabled squadron personnel, those who are missing in action(MIA) and their beloved families for the utmost sacrifices they all have done to the nation.
The anniversary parade was followed by a floral tribute ceremony to commemorate fallen heroes at the squadron fallen heroes’ monument. In parallel with the anniversary, a community service project was carried out by squadron personnel at Kumaragama Anura Vidyalaya. In addition, a sports event was organized with the participation of all hangar personnel and civilian staff.
The Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore Dinesh Jayaweera, graced the occasion as the Chief guest.
