SLAF ASSISTS IN TRANSPORTING AL EXAMINATION PAPERS AMID FLOODS IN ADAL OYA
4:20pm on Tuesday 26th November 2024
The SLAF extended its assistance today morning (26 November 2024) to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of GCE Advanced Level examination papers to schools in flood-affected areas near Adal Oya in Ampara District. The overflow of the Adal Oya, triggered by heavy rainfall, resulted in severe flooding, making it impossible to transport examination papers to the Waranketagoda Maha Vidyalaya, Rajgalthenna Maha Vidyalaya and Galapitagala Vidyalaya through conventional means.

In response to this challenge and following the directives of the Disaster Management Centre, the SLAF deployed a boat from the SLAF Regiment Training Center in Ampara to ensure the timely delivery of the papers.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Regiment Training Center Ampara, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa with coordination led by Squadron Leader Dinesh Kiwandeniya. The mission was supported by three other officers and 22 airmen, who worked diligently to overcome the logistical challenges posed by the flooding.
