The Change of Command of SLAF Base Katunayake was held yesterday (28 November 2024). The traditional Handing Over/Taking Over parade was conducted at the Base, where the outgoing Acting Base Commander Air Vice Marshal DRW Jayawardena USP, MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MDS, MSSD, BA (Def Stu), ndc (Ban), psc. handed over the command to Air Vice Marshal  NHDN Dias WWV and Bar, RSP and Bar, USP, MDS, Pg, Dip (IR), ndc, psc, qhi. Air Vice Marshal DRW Jayawardena will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters, where he will be assuming duties as the Acting Provost Marshal.

The new Base Commander, Air Vice Marshal NHDN Dias, assumed office after completion of the traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade. The new Base Commander, Air Vice Marshal NHDN Dias successfully graduated from the National Defence College in Sri Lanka before being appointed to command SLAF Base Katunayake.
