The Change of Command of SLAF Station Weerawila was conducted today (03 December 2024). The traditional Handing Over/Taking Over parade took place at the Station Parade Square, where the outgoing Commanding Officer Group Captain SP Jayasinghe USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), MBA in HRM, BA (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), Pg Dip (HRM), psc handed over the command to Group Captain JG Jayalath MSc (Def & Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, Pg Dip (Def Mgt), USP, psc. Group Captain SP Jayasinghe will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters, where he will be assuming duties as the Director Sports.

The new Commanding Officer, Group Captain JG Jayalath, assumed office after completion of the traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade. Previously, he held the appointment of Staff Officer Admin Coordinator at Directorate of Administration before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Weerawila.
