The Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) which is the Public Sector Wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) showcased the peak of financial reporting excellence in the public sector with the announcement of the winners for the eighth Best Annual Report and Accounts (BARA) awards competition, which was held at the BMICH yesterday (02 December 2024). Financial Statements of the year 2023, which contained the Auditor General’s opinion and organizational performance of statutory bodies, universities, research institutes, departments and ministries, provincial councils and local authorities, were considered by the BARA competition.

SLAF performance report, with the standardized financial statements prepared by the Director Finance, Mr. HAU Jayalath for the year 2023, which was attractively articulated by a board of officers, presided by Air Vice Marshal MPA Mahawaththage (retd.) with Air Vice Marshal D Munasinghe, Group Captain DMSB Dasanayaka, Group Captain RR Somathilake, Group Captain MADCI Gunasinghe, Wing Commander ERD De Z Abeysekara, Wing Commander MADD Marasinghe and Flight Lieutenant KGDR Wijerathne as members was presented to the BARA competition 2024 and Sri Lanka Air Force secured the Gold award in the departments category depicting its unwavering commitment to good governance and sound financial reporting mechanism in ensuring national security through effective utilization of air power.

The event was graced by the Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs to the President of Sri Lanka and Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa. Representing the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal MDAG Senevirathne and Wing Commander WMMS Chandrasekara received the prestigious award. The award was later presented to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, today  (03 December 2024) by the Director Finance, Mr. HAU Jayalath and Wing Commander WMMS Chandrasekara at the Commander’s Office.
