The Change of Command of No 2 Heavy Transport Squadron at SLAF Base Katunayake took place with the traditional Handing over/ Taking over parade today (04 December 2024) at the squadron premises.

The new Commanding Officer, Wing Commander HMM Samarakoon MSc (Def & Strat Stu), psc took over duties from Group Captain KHDP Kasagala USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), Pg Dip (DEF Mgt), psc, qfi as the 38th Commanding Officer of the squadron.

The new Commanding Officer, was previously held the appointment of the Officer Commanding Operations in the squadron. Group Captain KHDP Kasagala will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters where he will be assuming duties as the Acting Director Doctrine & Policy Development.
