TROOP ROTATION OF UN PEACEKEEPING MISSION TO THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

The 10th Contingent from the Sri Lanka Air Force to take up duties with UN Peacekeeping Mission in the Central African Republic departed today (06 December 2024).The contingent comprised 20 Officers and 88 Airmen.
 
The contingent is led by the Contingent Commander, Group Captain Uditha De Silva and consisted of various professionals required to perform duties at the UN Peacekeeping Mission in the Central African Republic.

Meanwhile, the main element of the 9th Aviation Contingent comprised of 92 personnel, arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport same day (06 December 2024) after successfully completing its one-year tenure of peacekeeping in the Central African Republic. The Contingent had been deployed from 04 December 2023 and was contributing to humanitarian and peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic.

During the tenure of the 9th Contingent, over the course of one year, significant revenue was generated for the country through the completion of 1,219 flying hours, troop salaries and the rentals of contingent-owned equipment.
