The Change of Command at the SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala, took place today (08 December 2024). The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade was held and the outgoing Commanding Officer, Air Commodore UCJ Piyasena, USP, MSc (Elect. & Math. Sc.), Pg Dip (HR), Pg Dip (IR), psc, handed over the command to Air Commodore AKKR Abeysinghe, BSc (Def. Stu), psc. Air Commodore UCJ Piyasena will take over the role of Director Quality Assurance at Air Force Headquarters after the successful completion of his tenure at SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala.

The new Commanding Officer, Air Commodore AKKR Abeysinghe, simultaneously took over the appointment of Director Trade Training as well, following the completion of the traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade.

Prior to this appointment, Air Commodore Abeysinghe served as the Commanding Officer of the Aeronautical and Engineering Wing at SLAF Base Katunayaka and recently completed the National Defence College (ndc) programme in India.
